Privacy
Effective October 15, 2026. Applies to playletra.com and the Letra app.
The short version
The Letra app collects nothing from anyone, child or adult. There are no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies, and no advertising SDKs. Your kid's progress lives on your device and nowhere else. The website's only form is an optional email list for grown-ups.
What Letra collects
The app collects nothing. On the website, the only thing we ever ask for is an email address, and only if a grown-up chooses to join the news list (see The email list). We never ask for a name, a location, contacts, or photos, and there is nothing to log into.
What stays on your device
Progress, the Letter Town it builds, the chosen avatar, and the volume settings are saved in your browser's local storage (or, in the app, on the device). They never leave it. Clearing your browser data, or deleting the app, wipes them.
What we count
playletra.com uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It sets no cookies, does not fingerprint devices, and does not follow anyone across sites. That is the only measurement on the website, and it is a plain tally with nothing attached to it: no IP address, no device identifier, no cookie, nothing that could connect a visit to a person.
Three things are visible in that tally, because the game puts them in the address of the page rather than sending anything about you: which game was opened, which world it was played in, and whether this device had opened Letra before. The last one is worked out on your own device from a single date kept in your browser, and only ever leaves it as one of three ordinary web addresses. It is still a count with nothing attached: there is no way to tell that two visits came from the same person. On the playletra.com/hello page, the tally also shows the same way whether an app button (App Store or Android) was tapped and whether the email form was sent, and nothing about who did it.
The Letra app contains none of this. It counts nothing.
The email list
If you type your email into the form on playletra.com, it goes to Buttondown, the newsletter service we use, and we use it for one thing: telling you Letra news, such as when the app is out. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes your address. We never sell or share it.
Fonts
The website loads its two fonts from Google Fonts. Like any web request, that means Google's servers see the IP address of the device asking for them. The Letra app ships with its fonts inside it and makes no such request.
Ads
None, ever. Letra has no advertising and no advertising SDKs, and never will.
The Letra app
You buy the app from Apple's App Store on iPhone and iPad (and from Google Play on Android, once the Android app is out), and the store handles the payment. We never see your card, your Apple ID, or your Google account. Every purchase, now or later, goes through the store, and we never see anything about you. To put it on a new device, download it again from the same store account; nothing about the purchase passes through us.
Children
Letra is made for children aged four to six, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app collects nothing at all, and the website's email list is meant for grown-ups. If you believe a child has sent us information somehow, email us and we will delete it.
Your choices
The app keeps nothing on our side, so there is nothing of your child's to delete. To erase progress, clear your browser data or delete the app. To leave the email list and delete your address, click unsubscribe in any email or write to [email protected].
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions: [email protected].
