About Letra

I'm Tanner, and I'm a dad. I made Letra because I wanted a letters game I'd be happy to hand my own kids. I wanted it to feel like a place to explore, not a quiz: a little world to wander around, where letters wait to be found.

I built it with my kids, who are obsessed with volcanoes and space (yes, a volcano shoots you into space). Letra keeps growing, and your family can help shape it.

The voice matters most. A four-year-old can't read a menu, so the game has to talk. A friendly voice says every letter's name and sound, the hints, and the cheers. I wanted the game to feel alive and to help kids connect words to real things in the world in a fun, rewarding way. That was one of the main reasons I made Letra.

How Letra teaches

When Letra asks a kid to spell SUN, it says "Sssunnn," with the sounds blended together instead of chopped apart. In one study, kindergartners taught this way decoded new words better (Gonzalez-Frey & Ehri, 2021). And when they pick up a letter, they hear its name and its sound together, which research suggests helps young kids learn letter sounds (Piasta, Purpura & Wagner, 2010). Letra itself hasn't been studied. It's a game built on these ideas, not a reading program.

No ads, no subscription, and nothing collected about your kid. It's just me, Tanner, so if something is wrong or your kid gets stuck, email [email protected] and it comes to me. Have a question, an idea, or just want to say hello? I read every email!

In one paragraph

Letra: 3D Alphabet Game is a letters and phonics game for kids aged 4 to 6. Kids walk, drive, fly, or sail around little 3D worlds (a park, the sky, the ocean, the sea bed, the moon, and several planets), finding letters. A voice guides every step, so no reading is needed. There are three games, Find the Alphabet, Match the Sound, and Spell the Word, and every letter found and every word a kid spells moves into their own Letter Town. It was made by a dad and his kids, and it has no ads, no subscription, and collects nothing from kids.
